Summer of Fun!
During the summer 2012 semester, EHS student, Jaime Lundblad, completed her internship at the Oakland County Health Division in Pontiac, Michigan. In the following, she reflects on the amazing experience she had during her internship.
"It is a difficult task for me to express in one paragraph the great experience I have had while working for Oakland County Health Division. I have observed jobs from food inspections to various septic works, to groundwater sampling and well drilling. Many times I had the opportunity to get hands-on experience when working with a sanitarian, which was always a welcomed opportunity. In the beginning of a typical week, I took water samples from public beaches which provided me with even more understanding of the roles of environmental health professionals. When I wasn't shadowing, I was conducting public swimming pool inspections. The inspections have certainly helped me to improve my communication skills. This internship also allowed me the opportunity of meeting people who have a common heartfelt interest: to protect the environment and the people interacting with it."
